Editorial policy
Active Theatre Journal aims to make its theatre-making coverage clear, useful and accountable. We distinguish general guidance from opinion and correct material when it is wrong or misleading.
Accuracy and scope
We check factual statements against appropriate source material before publication and write within the limits of what can be supported. We do not present a suggestion as a universal rule. Readers should consider their production's circumstances and any relevant rights, venue requirements or local rules rather than treating our articles as a substitute for checking them.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are separate from commercial arrangements. Sponsored or partner material is labelled clearly where it appears. A paid placement does not buy a favourable editorial judgement, and partner links or mentions do not imply endorsement.
Corrections
If a published item contains an error, we review the report and amend the item when warranted. We aim to make material corrections clear to readers rather than quietly leaving a misleading impression. Use the Contact page to identify the item and explain the concern.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be AI-generated. When they are, we identify them as such. Illustrations are not evidence that a depicted production, person or event exists.
